Re: Lone Tree, Barren Landscape, BW
I like it, Karm. Comp may be a bit tight. Including the shadow might have been interesting. Of course that assumes there were no obstructions over there...

Terrific conversion and a great scene!
I also agree that I would like to see more space around the tree if that's possible. Part of the story being told is the vast desolation, which would be emphasized more with additional space.

Very nice indeed, find the shadow interesting however you were there not I to know if something that way would have interfered with the shot.

I like the processing, Karm. The play of shadow and light in the dead branches gives me a sense of the struggle for survival in a harsh environment.
I wonder if you could get a shot of this tree against a full moon one night.

Hi Footloose, thanks. I like your moon shot suggestion. I'll try it in the future.

Re: Lone Tree, Barren Landscape, BW
Hi Polar01, yeah, there was a lot of junk around this tree. I cropped tight to avoid major surgery.

Re: Lone Tree, Barren Landscape, BW
Mike and Dan, I agree with both of you that a wider crop would be better. However, there was a a lot of other dead trees and wood around this tree. I wanted this tree to be shot in isolation.

Nice shot and processing Karm. Sometimes it is hard to see the 'forest for the trees' and I applaud your ability to do so as shown in this lovely image.

Re: Lone Tree, Barren Landscape, BW
The isolation/desolation theme comes through perfectly for me. In addition I find my eye lingers on the interesting shadow and light of the tree itself. The uncluttered background really lends to the sense of isolation. Well visualized and executed.
