Born and primary education in Strathdon, Aberdeenshire, secondary education in Alford and Inverurie Academies. Worked in bank in Aberdeen for 4 years then joined a bank in London from where I went to Brazil as an ex-pat for 14 years then returned to London and worked in management in various departments of the head office until retirement. Married to Brazilian and have two children and four grandchildren.
