I took this photo (with a bit of PP) while I was conducting a site inspection at one of our clay mines this January. The old lady or "lola" (the word "lola" is the Filipino equivalent of grandma) in the photo is 80 y.o. and has been making earthenware since she was young - a skill acquired by locals in many provinces in the country which is passed down from generation-to-generation.
A piece of earthenware (simple cooking pot, jars, etc.) will cost around 10-20 pesos. And in good days, she is able to sell 100 pieces to a certain buyer - enough for her to buy food and medicine for her family for a week.
I like this photo because it represents three Filipino traits: (1) hardworking, (2) humility and (3) love for family.
