I must jump to week 48 for the next pictures...
it was a very beautiful day for photography, but my spare time was very tight so I only took a short walkabout on the seaside of my city with my girlfriend... i'm still sad for this missed chance
is the shore line too far? too much water in the foreground?
"Bow towards the shore!"
does it work?
thank you!
ciao
Yes Nicola, I often have trouble deciding which of my photos to use for a particular purpose.
With these last two images from week 45, you have an interesting scene full of natural colour in the first one. Maybe the sailing boat could have been a fraction further to the right but I'm not really too worried about that.
The second one suffers from a problem which I often get with long exposures on this sort of scene. Movement from one boat which has caused blur. And there isn't any real alternative; unless you are able to take a couple of shots at different exposures then spend quite a bit of time editing one image over the other.
I agree with Donald on these two photos.
With the first one, I feel that you have to decide which is going to be the main subject. The foreground rocks with everything else gently merging into the distance or zooming to concentrate further along the shoreline and ignore the present foreground.
There may have been two alternative shots here, but the one you have taken does work well.
The second is more of an artistic impression. This sort of style was popular a few years ago. For me, it does work. I wonder about printing it onto textured paper, eg canvas or a strong weave paper.
yes Geoff,
I'm still waiting for the right scene that allows me to turn this motion issue into the very key of the picture...
in my mind there is one or more boats swinging like a pendolum in a smoke like water combined with some fixed and steady subject (like a lighthouse? or stars?) I will get it one day...
thank you Donald and Geoff
when I framed the scene I was fancying this kind of issue. It's quite common for me: when I see a scene like this there are many interesting things in my eyes and I can't decide at the moment which is my main subject: in this one, the clear water in the foreground, the rocks at right and the white bubbles on the left giving depth to the image, the shore line and the clouds were all interesting to me... so to keep them all, I lost a good picture...
Finishing with a sunset - always a good idea!
Nice natural looking colour without excessive saturation.
Those last two photos are great. The colour gradient of the night sky coupled with the warmly lit subject looks great. One question though - what's the line above the roof of the building in the second photo?
I know, Mal, it's a plane landing at the local airport
since it was late in the evening and my friends were pushing me to go out I didn't spend 2 seconds to remove it
Fantastic shots to mark year 2012!
I usually just look and keep my mouth shut. I love all the talent, photographs and comments. This photograph took my breath away for it is absolutely wonderful. Thank you for allowing me to see it.
