I used Lightroom to bring back the colors. Photoshop CS5 for sharpness and liquify; and Topaz for paint.

Buoyage
I thought the harbour looked too vacant; it needed something adding to give impact in the foreground, so the buoy was added. This provided a more balanced image and a gave a better depth of field.
Method:
1. Cut and pasted the buoy from a photo I went and took on the Liverpool river Mersey.
2. Extended the shoreline and sea by using the PSC3 clone tool, thus changing the sea colour for better effect.
3. Highlighted some sections of the ship by using the lasso tool and brightness, otherwise the ship looked too dark.
4. Having merged the layers, the final step was to blend the colours and tweak the saturation a touch. - job done. I enjoyed this exercise, and thanks for providing the orginial image.
