    Dogs on the beach

It was in the 60 F last Friday, and I took my dogs to the beach...they sure had a blast, and the light was good.

What an impact that makes. Very, very clever composition and well-executed.

I'm just wondering if it's little soft around the eyes and could benefit from a sharpen in that area?

Very nice images, those eyes look demonic in "HAPPY DOG, or what? but considering the locale he looks happy.

I agree with Donald about the impact. He or she seems like king or queen of the world.

More than just sharpening the eyes, I would sharpen everything except the sky, as all of it seems soft to me.

Am I right that you used flash?

Thank you for the comments. Yes, I used fill flash on this, as the sun was causing some shadows....I see that I need to sharpen some....thanks. She has a lot of sand on her face, wish I had brushed it off, but I didn't see it til I got home....still, it captures the fun she had...

Fishing? No, I was not fishing, and surprisingly, not a soul on the beach but us dogs.....usually there are die-hard fishermen out....it's still too cold for me to take the boat out, I like it a tad warmer to go fishing....Oh, I did not see the photo you posted with fishing? It loaded after I read your post....was your dog fishing? LOL! My boxer just tried to drink the salt water....

I especially like the sand on her face and think you should consider emphasizing it. It goes well with the sand in her paws and is an obvious connection with the beach. It also adds a bit of comedy to an otherwise regal image.

What ever you used, it's managed to capture the appeal of canines for us. A real love of life, playfulness and run for fun. It's great to see.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I was reading about taking portraits using the main source of light (sun) to sidelight the back of your subject and using a fill flash to fill in the right front side. The boxer portrait is an experiment of that technique, although used on a dog, not a person.
