Hi Joanne,
A little blurr in action photography depicts movement. When subjects in action are frozen by to high a shutter speed you get the feeling of a nice shot but not a good shot.
Getting that blurr is not easy and takes a lot of practice. Try panning on the subject with a lower shutter speed. Start with 1/125sec and see how it turns out. If it is to blurred adjust shutter speed until you are happy with the result.
