    Re: Understanding Layers

I nearly always do a very wide quick lasso selection from a photograph Ctrl+C open the target file and paste to a new layer Ctrl+V. All fine selection is then done using a mask. The only time I bother with a very accurately cut is when I intend to use the resulting selection several times. Until you have placed the copied image over the target image you do not know how careful and much work you have to do to make it look natural.

    L. Paul, thank you for sharing... I saw that technique in the tutorial that Dave shared which included several other tips on selections that I have never tried and that will make things a lot easier for me...

I've been doing selections the hard way, so truly appreciated.
