    Rainy Day Image

House Finch in molt. This is a staged image from my backyard setup.

Today I used the CamRanger remote app from the comfort of my living room while watching a soccer game Camera was set on a tripod in a sheltered area near the perch.

So, we all have it wrong.... Hiking into mosquito infested forests, ponds, getting up before dawn, trudging thru snow, sleet, uphill both ways....and all we had to do was sit in our living room eating Bon- Bons??
Thank you for this eye opener BCrose!
Beautiful exposure, detail, colors, and, and,

No...We still need to do that if we want to get truly natural images. And some enjoyment out of the process
Don't get me wrong, I love making these images but getting out there in the kayak or hiking some remote trail is what I truly get the most satisfaction from.

    Hi Monte,

I don't know what a "CamRanger remote app" is but whatever it is, you certainly created a stunningly beautiful photo with. I adore these backgrounds of yours, this series of yours is wonderful.

Today, I trudged a mile in the freezing rain... I think I need a bird feeder

Thanks, on days like this sometimes the hassle of getting out is just too much for me. Rain gear for camera and myself, cold and damp when trying to wait out the birds...

The CamRanger is an app for iPad etc. that allows full remote wireless functionality of your camera using a WiFi connection up to 150 feet. Works great! You can see it here

    Re: Rainy Day Image

My pleasure. Thank you for sharing your photos.

Actually I was in the city heading out to the horse races, bus driver didn't show up for his shift so I had to take an alternate bus which stopped a mile a way in the middle of a storm, and it was freezing at the track, too. Searching for birds is far more pleasant...

Thanks. I don't have an iphone or any of those things (not even a cell phone) but now I'm thinking that one might come in handy now and then... :

Yes Nancy but you have to get it right and I wouldn't show my 'remotes' anywhere when I used my 50ft extension cable release ... recently organised a bird table but yet to get around to taking photos seriously ... but the birds get their daily feed of seed. so they are under training

Monte, I applaud your technique. I took these hummers while "smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo" in my Barco lounger. Nobody told me that photography had to be hard work. patience my child

Here are a couple of more with a new setup from today.
This bird was plumping up as it watched the others feed.
Cloudy setting for WB is a little too much I think.

Lovely... yes, I think the WB is a little bit warm in the first. That said I think this last one (second one) is my favourite of this set to date. Beautifully focused, sharp, wonderful detail, gorgeous composition and such an adorable pose.
