Hi I haven't posted for a while and now I have a new compute. Many of my photos appear slightly different in colour. I am not sure if the old colour or the new colour is correct. How does this one look? also any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks Andrew

I would clone out the buoys (or whatever they are) in the foreground.

For me, I would slightly reduce the amount of very dark cloud at the top because it does tend to make the image a little 'top heavy' and overpowers the rather delicate foreground. Either use a different size ratio or lose a bit from the right side.

Is your monitor colour corrected? Either by special software or manually adjusted? It is always difficult to comment about colour on a scene like this without having actually been there to see the real conditions when shot.

Beautiful image. The colours look perfect to me (calibrated monitor) I like the drama of the skies, although I can see Geoff's point of view.

I completely agree with Geoff in all respects.

My opinions regarding monitors and browsers...

You shouldn't even be concerned about color unless you are using software and hardware to profile and calibrate your monitor. That's because you have no control over the color of your images until you do that. Naturally, the corollary is that if you are concerned about the color of your images, you absolutely must profile and calibrate your monitor. I recommend Spyder Express. You will need Spyder Pro if you also are printing your own photos.

Even so, understand that when you profile and calibrate your monitor, lots of people will view your images with monitors that have not been profiled and calibrated. Some of the people who do profile and calibrate their monitor will be using browsers that do not accurately display your images. You can't do anything about those situations but it is important to understand that they exist when people critique your photos.

Beautiful Andrew, colours look great on my macbook. I echo Richards remarks on colours and Geoff's on the buoy's and to play with the shadow slider to reduce the darkness top and bottom of the image.

I agree with the others about the colour. That appears to be fishing net floats in the foreground and I would leave them in as I suspect this boat is going towards them to check his catch.

Don't know if the colour is correct or not. Who cares? It's looks wonderful.

As was suggested above, calibrating and profiling your monitor is the only way to ensure correct representation of colour.

Its a great photo, especially the detail in the cloud. Don't worry about the colour, it seems fine to us all so far...as long as you like it of course.

Wow thanks for the comments. I have been away working for a few days so missed them until now. The photo was taken on the island of Koh Jum, a beautiful and extremely quite paradise. We had rain every day when we were there through isolated thunderstorms which gave the amazing skies like have never seen. The fishing nets in the foreground were of great interest to me and I would want to leave them in. The sky comments are good and I will look at that. With regard to the border, what type of finish would anyone use? Thanks again Andrew
