    Hi Nick,
    Welcome to CiC.

Sorry Nick, some of us are very nasty and look at images with hawk eyes!
I think your horizon is just a tad out.

Nice image, I like the way you included the “missing” part of the boat.

Nick: I like the image. The lines in the clouds and the water/sand interaction do a good job of directing the viewer towards the boat. If this was intentional then great job. If is wasn't then just take credit for it.

I would be tempted to increase the exposure slightly to brighten up the boat colour and the sand. Be subtle as it is an overcast day and you don't want to make it look weird. Just enough to pull the gaze to the boat.

Also try cropping it. Make the boat more dominant by cutting off some of the sky and the right side beach. An exercise I am trying now is to use the crop tool the cut off everything but the main feature. Then reduce the crop, trying differing types of framing (square, panoramic, what have you), including more items and see how you like it.

I like the composition. Maybe it's my monitor, but if you could brighten it just a tad.

The horizon is very slightly out but there is an illusion here. The dark line just below it which slopes down to the left makes the eye see more of a slope than there really is.

Nice image and brightness is just right to me. It is a cloudy day.

Ha! Just tell them that the horizon dips 4" per mile and that the distant horizon in your shot is 5 miles from left to right of frame

    Good shot, Nick

    .
    hehe - good idea.

I am not sure about cropping this shot.
But on straightening, not sure if I would, maybe, maybe not.

If someone else hadn't mentioned it, I am not sure I would have noticed anything.

Nick just listen to Greg. In this case I would ignore any police. I like this image - not easy to capture, you managed it newbie (and aren't we all when you come down to it, if not in photography then in something else) or not.
