Stunning! And your photos are too
Pelicans are so colorful and you captured that stupendously ( trying to think of new words for great photos)
They do glide soooooo incredibly close to the water and sometimes just barely Nik the water for a second, they are amazing.
I also have been trying to gt the diving Pelican and never noticed how they turn themselves as in 1 of your photos.
Great shots, clarity, color,
Thanks, Nancy
Awesome set. They definitely have a command of flight skills. It's interesting when witnessed in person their dives look more like a barely controlled crash. But in stills they look downright graceful. Well done.
Just beautiful...simply beautiful. I like your series...and #1 is the most beautiful of them all...oh no! I shouldn't pick just one -- I'll have to pick all of them...
Wow! When I saw the first shot I knew it was a winner but by the time I had viewed them all I was amazed at how well captured they all were. You must have been able to get fairly close to command that amount of control over the detail despite the fact that they must have been moving relatively fast, particularly in the dives.
Brilliant shots.
What is up at CiC ??? Everybody is doing birds all of a sudden.
Now I am waiting for Matt to show us some with his 500.
Great show
Nice images, great action shots.
Super captures Roger!
Nice captures, the first one in particular.
Thanks Dan I appreciate the comment.
Thanks for commenting Isabel it's nice to get feedback especially good feedback!
Very nice images indeed... That you captured the moments of 3 & 4 is amazing...
The fifth image is absolutely gorgeous! The light, colour, composition, detail... everything... Beautiful!
Beautiful shots!
All of the above! I am stunned at how good you have got with these shots Roger.
They roll as they go in to allow the pouch to expand like a net. Then they slowly lift their head allowing the water to drain out.
This one isn't in breeding plumage but the full pouch is easy to see.
More of an explanation at http://birdsnbugs.wordpress.com/2012...feeding-dives/ but the pictures aren't as great as those above.
Thanks James I practice a lot.
Gorgeous. Very impressive set in all regards.
