    Fishing Creek Dam

Fishing Creek Dam on the Catawba River. I took this shot because I liked the way the sky reflects in the waters below the dam.

    Comments and critiques welcomed!

The Fishing Creek Hydroelectric Station dam is 1,770 feet long with 22 floodgates. The five-unit hydro station has a 37 megawatt generating capacity.

Fishing Creek Lake, formed behind the dam was created in 1916 and has approximately 3,112 surface acres of water and 61 miles of shoreline.

If you saw the image 'High Water Marks' posted here, this scene is just to the left of that one.

Vibrant without being too much of anything.

Indeed, it is good to have Frank back. Sort of like an early gift from Santa to all of us.

    Hi Frank,

    Welcome back!

Great image. Personally, I think the mid-tones are just a touch flat -- I'd run the burn tool set to shadow across them to improve the local contrast a smidgen. And possibly knock the sky back a hair too.

Hi Colin and thank you for the warm welcome. I appreciate and respect your observations. It's been a while so I'm not confident that I haven't over-corrected but here is the result for your consideration.

    Fishing Creek Dam

Thanks again for taking the time to review and provide feedback!

Edit: Interesting, the change looks more dramatic in PS CS5 than it does here.

    Hi Frank,

    You're welcome.

Yep - looks good. If I was "nit picking" I'd say "tap the last couple of inches of the structures next to the foliage with the burn tool on shadows again", but it's pretty minor stuff (they're just a touch more washed out compared to the rest of the structure), but no biggie.
