Birds from a road trip Saturday...

Saturday morning Dottie and I went to Joe Overstreet Road. This road is a gravel surface road that travels for five miles ending at a fish camp and boat launching ramp on the eastern shore of Lake Kissimmee. The road is bordered by a sod farm and pastures with cattle. The pastures are habitat to many birds including Whooping Cranes and Meadowlarks ( which we did not see ), also the Crested Caracara. On the way home there is a Bald Eagle nest not far off the track. A resident who lives nearby the eagles nest told us that this pair of eagles have been using this nest for the last thirteen years. These are some of the images we captured. C&C welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Excellent set, Joe. That first shot is near perfect. All techs handled and a great pose from the bird. The BGs on all of the small birds are lovely. That's a cool old tree the eagles chose for a nesting site. The second eagle shot is a classic pose with the bird calling.

What a perfect set. They all have something to offer and are sharp and beautifully exposed. I really like the last one for it's dramatic pose but each of them has stunning characteristics. Thank you for posting these, Joe!

Thanks Dan, I am working all the time to figure out what works and what doesn't. These images were pretty easy because the fence posts along the side of the road allowed for plenty of separation of the bird and background. The old dead tree the eagles are nesting is neat. I hope it stands for many more years because it offers wonderful photo opportunities because it is close to a road (within 100 feet ).

Thank you Christina. I can get close to the eagles nest, it is within 100 feet of the road. The birds are used to cars, joggers and bicycles but I still only stay a few moments especially when they have eggs in the nest.

Hello Ali, thank you for viewing and commenting. These were shot at 1/500 at 5.6. The soft backgrounds were because of the separation of the bird and the background. I could isolate the bird on the fencepost and the background was the pasture far behind the bird.
