Visitor in my sink
After my [pevious visit here at CiC I went downstairs and found this fellow[ese] trying to climb out of the sink.
After [s]he paid their dues as model they were carefully lifted out on a bowl and gently placed [ thinking of Brian's beliefs] out in the garden where they quickly scuttled away into hiding.
The other part of the story regards my use of two two dioptre CU lens to get s/he bigger in frame, above is about a quarter crop equalling a tighter, though not that tight for a small spider and certainly not a 'bug-eye' shot. The crop makes it similar to full frame with a 560mm lens.
One of the lenses is only a 52mm mounting and my usual 2D is 55mm so I placed the 52 on the camera lens and held it in place with electrical tape. After the shoot rather than get another camera out I shot the rig in a mirror so I guess it is a 'selfie' taken at 82mm zoom instead of 280 for spider.

Re: Visitor in my sink
Thankfully it wasn't a brown recluse spider, I hear those are deadly.

A very handsome spider! Beautiful detail and depth of field. I also like how you captured the shadow of its legs.
PS Nice to know he is running free

Re: Visitor in my sink
Being a flash shot in a small reflecting area the light tends to bounce around... later that day another one, a wee bit bigger came down the wall and hid in the back of a chair ... despite efforts to capture it was too clever so it is still there for all I know ... while check tomorrow. I have no problem with the harmless spiders of NZ [ apart from the female Katipo ] but only draw the line at being walked over which has happened a couple of times ... very impolite of them. Had one sharing my shower for about a week once until it got bored with my conversation and wandered off somewhere.

Re: Visitor in my sink
A very good looking spider not like the horrid little hiding one that builds a web over my car's wing mirror every night.
