All that remains
Hi! everyone,
Have done some sharpening on this pic. something which among other things I am a novice at.
Would like your opinion on that aspect and anything else you can comment on.
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers Colin.

Re: All that remains
It's a good image. Since the image is about the poles sticking up out of the water, why don't you experiment with cropping out the headland on the right to concentrate the attention on the subject. If you could get rid of the grass on the bottom right, this would simplify the foreground, although I really do like the rock shoreline in the foreground. I also really like the low cloud formation near the horizon. Regards the sharpening, it looks fine at this size. It's difficult to say more without seeing the original. However, I am presuming it has given a little contrast to the detail of the sea and sky, which is a good thing, gives more interest to the image.
thanks for posting.
regards
Clive

Re: All that remains
Great image, looks almost a painting to me. High-res would be great for this!

Re: All that remains
Nicely conceived photo. I like everything about it but the water. IMO this would be much more effective taken early one morning before the wind ruffles the water. Swells would be OK as long as the surface was glassy. That would make the pilings much more prominent.

Re: All that remains
I like it - I think it's worth experimenting with Clive's suggestion on cropping. Also - the water almost looks to have a noise effect going on, but I can't expand the image enough to be sure.

Re: All that remains
Very nice image...pleasing... Technically a bit heavy towards right, because the land and grass are both are seen on that side; but i rarely see images through technical glass, unless something is really disturbing; nothing really disturbs me here

Re: All that remains
Basically works fine, Colin. But as Clive and others have mentioned, those piles are 'heading' towards the left. Away from that headland on the right and without anything obvious to 'tie the two elements together'.
If the piles were heading in the other direction, towards the headland, this composition would have worked better.
As it is, I tend to agree with the idea of a crop from the right side and leave the piles 'running out to a lonely sea'.

Re: All that remains
Very nice Colin. You can also try a long exposure with an ND filter to make the water look flat if you have the possibility to shoot in the same place again
