You are getting good at this, Jack...I like it too...
What do you do...stand in the corner of the street, for some moment and take pictures?
I think it's has the Beetle's Abbey Road look to it. Nicely done.
Nice shot. I was just wondering why you did not shoot at a wider aperture to narrow the DoF considerably.
I think going B&W works for you here. The scene is quite busy and you simplified it enough with this technique to get it to work. I suspect that a color version might not be quite as effective.
I also like it! IMO, B&W works wonderfully in NYC imagery.
Isabel, thank you. Actually I just roam the streets and when something catches my eye, I shoot.
John, thanks. I honestly didn't even see the similarity until you pointed it out. Quite likely its similarity is what caught my eye.
Manfred, thanks. What I do is I generally shoot at f/11 with my (35mm) lens pre-focused at ~20ft. This gives me a DoF from around 9ft to infinity. I don't generally take the time to frame a shot, it's all very quick so this works better for me.
Thank you Richard. It's funny but I'm finding that even the most mundane of activities can be interesting in B&W.
The triple sets of people make the shot...nicely done.
Thanks chauncey. Makes for a higher degree of difficulty
Based on your "opportunistic" shooting style you describe, I understand why you would preset your camera the way you do to get these shots. In fact, thinking about it, I rather doubt you would have gotten this shot by using a more traditional focus and frame style.
That being said, this technique does limit your compositional tool set...

Nice B&W
Thank you Binnur
Nice. I like the lines. How the road is coming towards you, how the arrow points to the crossing. How the crosswalk is defined. How the 3 groups of people all seem to be on the same foot.

Thank you Marie.
