    Fight for Survival!!! Kinda

Hi all, so here's more of ET, ive tried looking up what this insect is and the closest i can get to it is a Tortoise shell beetle. Anyway, heres a series of photos of him spotting and ant (the enemy, lets call him Guido). Anyway, from what i could see and if you look carefully, ET seems to have some Compatriots on his back as well. Here is his story.

Checking out the scene, ET is on edge already, Somethings just not right!!

ET spots movement and puts his life on the line and stretches his body and limbs over the edge, Risking a massive fall, but risking more if he didnt spot his enemy!!!

Victory!!! ET is unharmed and stil king of the leaf ( this one at least) and has saved himself and his companions in a duel that could surely have been his and there deaths for certain.
Guido leaves...( No pun intended).. and hopes Mama Louisa has prepared him a nice a plata pasta!!!

Excellent clicks. I felt there is a lack of contrast between the subject and the background.

ET is very interesting with transparent parts of its body and I'm glad that it is unharmed

Great story and such an interesting insect with its transparent, golden and esmerald green shades... I agree the pictures might have more effect by having more contrast between subject and background, but I like the colours though!

Oh, and what is that little black piece there on the right back of ET?

    Hi Claudio,

Just to say I have been enjoying all your bug photos, and I especially enjoyed this story. Truly!

I especially adore images 3 & 5, for the beauty of ET and the colours. If they were my images I might crop out the ant, just because ET is the star of the story for me. Except in #4, the ant steals the show. Great image!

When you run out of a job to do, perhaps you can be a bug commentator as opposed to a sports commentator. I love your story. It doesn't matter to me if you did not get the contrast right nor the brightness or sharpness....you told your story and you even took the shots in sequence. Very nice...Love it...

Thank you Brigitte for your comments, also agree with all that there should be little more contrast and i"ll work on it, those black things on its back are two more little bugs, im not sure what they are but they were tiny, i'm not killed enuff to remove them in PP , but i quite like that they are there anyway, even if little distracting.

Thank you Andy, i was using a Tamron 90mm 2.8 VC USD Macro lens and a SB 910 flash with home made diffuser. I hardly ever stray away from this set up. Only thing i might do is add an extension tube. Depending on how much ive had to drink

    Thanks Claudio,
Do extension rings really make that much of a difference?

If you are using macro lens and extension tubes i can tell you that focusing and holding it steady ( i shoot hand held) is not easy, in fact ive basically given that up. As for getting in closer, definitely does a good job, im not sure on numbers but getting close to 2:1.. i actually only use all 3 ext tubes and the macro lens on tiny bugs that dont move and setup on tripod, else, hand held i might use the smaller ext tube on as well as the lens.
