Same situation here. The exception is when I come home from work in a bad mood. She always seems to sense it and will then crawl aboard and lay her head in my lap.

Richard, Tucker will once in a while sit down on my lap too...He is 140 lbs you know...I can only take so much for such a huge dog...

Izzie, I can't even imagine having that large of a dog around the house much less having it try to climb in the lap. But I'll bet nobody messes with you while he's there

Don't worry...no one knows he is a softie at heart... -- just heavy...I've always wanted a labbie like yours but I have trained Rottweilers and German Shepherd in my past life for 3 years so I've always geared towards Rotties.

Handsome dog! It's funny how a dog will divide up its loyalties.
My 70lb goldendoodle is not a lap dog. She is content just to have some physical contact (like right now, on the couch with me, her butt up against my hip). But when she wants something, totally different story. She will climb up onto the back of the couch, literally draping herself over my shoulders and either resting her head on my shoulder or on the top of my head.

I have absolutely no doubt about this Dan! And they just do it instinctively while we ourselves have so much difficulty even understanding ourselves! We could learn a lot from them!

However, we have Maltese (our own - not the rescue Maltese) who have staked out one or the other of us as their principal human. They all love us both, but it is obvious which of us is more important to each of them...
