Removing the cork -- Take 2 (thanks to Manfred!)

Thanks to Manfred's explanation of how to use flash set with a rear-curtain synch, I was able to improve upon my previous attempt to give the impression that the cork is being removed from the tequila bottle. (In my first attempt I used no flash.) I also changed my grip on the cork thanks to Terri's suggestion.

It's not my favorite image of glass but it was helpful to get this technique down just in case I need it again.

You could also use reverse motion (putting cork in the bottle) and maintain the rigidness of the hand.

Hi Mike,

For some reason the hand doesn't work for me, it's too elegant.

When I think of Tequila I think of Mexico, and a warm friendly, extremely welcoming and vivacious people who seemed to have defined the art of having fun, especially so when drinking tequila. ie; Exhuberance to the nth degree.

Maybe a shot with a hand slamming down the cork forcefully, or a shooter glass of tequila just emptied banged on the table. And even a slice of lime and some salt... More vivacious and frozen in action. Ideas likely impossible to photograph but perhaps there is something about the idea that might spark another idea.

You have a slight blending problem with this composite, Mike. There is a white patch around the cork. ie it hasn't been blended in with the background of the bottle shot.

Christina: Ha! Nobody has ever described any part of my body as elegant. I don't know the culture of drinking tequila (which might be a great reason not to photograph it), so I defer to your thinking about that. As I mentioned, this isn't my favorite image.

I know that this is a work in progress, and you photograph that bottle (and everything in glass) so beautifully that it would be a crying shame if you didn't continue working with working with this idea. I know of no one else in the world who could photograph this bottle of Patron so beautifully, and it is a gorgeous bottle... There is just something odd about your hand in this image, for me. I was just sharing my idea for a more Mexican spirited image, to give you some ideas to work with, and as we know my ideas are often hare-brained or is that hair-brained?

I should also say that a Tequila like Patron is meant to be sipped and savoured, and often-times is, as it is an elegant Tequila...
