    Sign of Spring in Missouri

I took this photos yesterday even though it was a sunny day...I just thought it is nice to venture outside of my comfort zone and photograph this Magnolia tree before the storm. C&C appreciated, especially I am not used to this kind of photography. Number 1 just to show how tall this tree is in front of our house and #2, I concentrated only on a certain branch. Any improvement tips will be appreciated...this is pretty much out of my camera very minimal PP...

Hi Izzie, as David says, good to see u posting, was actually wondering about it yesterday!! I really like the composition in #2 Izzzie but would prefer the subject "branch and flower " to stand out more. Why not try the shot again but blur the BG, that'll really make that branch and flower pop.

Hi Izzie, nice colourful tree. Improvement tips, well how about cutting a twig off with a few flowers, go find yourself some cute bug, put him on a flower and shoot away

It's good to get out of your comfort zone at times, I was out before the sun came up this morning shooting fishing boats in the harbour, I'll be doing that more often just for the peace and view.

Lucky you (spring time). Difficult subjects to capture, the closeup is the best option.

The first shot shows what you wanted to record ... the height of the tree against the height ... the second is better at showing what the flowers are like but as such is way too wide and just the central clump would have made a better shot [ 20/20 vision of the editor ] and being such a small area worth hanging some complimentary material behind rather than the bricks?

What I see and would have been my aim I hope .......

Good to know Spring is springing back home Izzie!

Can't wait to get back there to see it (and thaw out myself!)!

Fuggedtaboutit for a while. Stay where you are, wherever you are...it is tornado season here. We had one landing in University City once and the governor wanted to declare a state emergency. Then last week there was the scare of three tornado warnings here in Chesterfield that started with the tornado coming from the valley eastward, but we got the warnings in the west where we live anyway...and I was alone in the house at the time with three dogs barking like blazes.

Come back when it is quieter...at the moment, two days of sunshine and three days of rain...muddy in the backyard, wet dogs and cement floor just doesn't mix.

You know the month to come back here in MO is next month May 3 and 4 weekend. The Blue Angels will be at the Spirit of St. Louis nearby.

That is very nice, John...I love it...and thank you for your kind comment...that brick behind that flower is very high for me reach. I am only 5 feet all...my husband and I when we are together looks like Mutt and Jeff in height.

Re: Sign of Spring in Missouri

I barely slept last night after I read Claudio's remark this morning and can hardy wait for a little bit of light to shine through so I can re-shoot that silly little twig. Guess what I forgot? -- the silly little twig... it did not even cross my mind to look for it. When the sun got up, I realized my stupidity. Man do I want to kick myself!!! I'll just do it this afternoon, I might be lucky..

I'd surely like to see those fishing boats shots you have...Yes...the sea is peaceful. I used to live across Port Philip Bay in Sandringham, Australia...we watch the waves and the dolphins jumping and frolicking on their way to Western Australia, the marina, the surfers and the beach bums...they are all the characters that makes up some of the beach ways around there and fun to watch...I missed that scene now that I am living here, but I still have my house back there where we visit at least twice a year. It is living there that I missed...

Hi Isabel,I like your shots.IMO all you need is to play around with PP to improve them.(like decreasing highlights and brightness, putting some more contrast)

Omg Izzie , you should never lose sleep over photography!!!! Everything is fun about it, even the learning, thays why i took this up as a hobby are year ago, and thats why i joined this group, there are stellar photographers here, seeing there images makes me always want to better mine ( and i only really try in Macro!!), watching others improve makes it all sweeter.

Now, i really like your new posts, especially the first as your BG is nicely out of focus, all you need to do now is focus on one of the flowers which you think is most attractive..take your time to see which one is most " perfect " for you, Focus on just that flower and njoy yourself, remember to keep your Back ground out of focus.

    Hi Isabel,

I especially like the image of the tree in front of your house. Lovely colours, beautifully sharp and wonderful detail.

Thanks Binnur, Claudio, Christina and Leslie -- for your comments.

Binnur, I have my tasks list these last few days and cannot do any long edits in front of the computer that is why I try to get it right on camera. I have a very sick dog at the moment who I have to hand fed. Having had a dog in the past before him that died my husband and I am watching his every move so we don't lose him like the other one.

Claudio, I will try the single shot early this morning. My husband said the flowers will be most beautiful perhaps today because most of them will be opened. I have a nice view of the tree right outside my den's window but it has an insect barrier to it. I do not know how to shoot through it unless I get a ladder and remove it for a while to take one good SOOC shot. Your idea is good so I will try my best...

Thank you all for pushing me to take pictures again and share it. This site is really very good at this to almost everyone. It is all appreciated.
