What a find Neil,beautiful place!
It has special significance as yesterday I proposed to my girl friend there and amazingly she said yes!
Congrats to you both, you should do it there, what a setting for a wedding
David
Congratulations on the upcoming wedding! If you do decide to get married there, be sure to check the tides.
Try raising your black point and lowering your white point so the histogram just barely extends to the left and right sides of the X axis. Then, if your software allows you to select only the bright part of the waves while adjusting the tone curve, pull the middle of the curve toward the lower right corner of the graph. Doing so will leave the brightest parts bright but will add more greyish tones to the waves and in the process will add significant detail to that gorgeous froth.
Nice shots and these will always bring back those nice memories.
Awwww...that was so sweet. Congratulations!
Beautiful place - no wonder inspiration struck when you were there and congratulations.
Well! You go out to capture some pics and end up all hitched up to get married! Good on both of you. Enjoy.
As for the pics, it's the first one that I think is the much more dramatic. I think that's because of all the rocks and the waves crashing over them. The second one is 'just' the sea with not a lot of interest created by the couple of rocks that we see.
But, stay away from beaches. You never know what you might decide to do next!
A lot more vibrancy in that one, Neil.
Interestingly, I wouldn't say it's 'better' or 'worse' than the original. It creates a different mood and atmosphere and which you'd want to finally go with would be totally up to you in terms of what you wanted to capture and convey in the image.
As an aside to the two versions, I have recently upgraded my operating software from Snow leopard to Mountain Lion, initially to my eyes when looking at photos on my computer not through any photo software the images seemed 'different'.If I could put my fingers on the change I would say that they seemed to lack a little saturation, my fiance could see no difference. Also recently I uploaded to another photo forum one of these beach scenes and on viewing it through the website using Firefox the colours appeared de-saturated,not sure whats going on there.
I prefer the revised version much more. I'm using Firefox and your images here definitely don't look desaturated.
