Bruce - not a particularily stunning sunset but what really caught my eye was the strength of the reflected sunlight on the LHS of the image - the reflection is coming from the glass on the side of the Whitby Pavillion which is the building immediately above it.

Hi, Steve.
Thanks for the image. I agree that the illuminated pavilion really stands out. I also like the second reflection (from the pavilion) in the water. Did you take any images after the sun set? I imagine the pavilion was no longer illuminated, but the clouds were there for some striking colors.

This is a shot of the eastern Adirondack mountains taken from the Lake Champlain Valley at 5:10PM on Feb 16 this year. (Metadata incorrect by two time zones)
This sunset surprised me because it occurred in the midst of clear high pressure - had been a brilliant day with only a very few small frothy instability cumulus clouds, and the next day was brilliant and cloudless. Somehow the dynamics of light and thermal shifts of evening brought out the sky you see here. My usual thinking is that weather change is best for interesting sunsets, but so much for usual thinking. Have a good time with your interesting project.
Mark,
Thanks for the image and sorry for slow reply. I had this all written and then it did not get posted. Great mix of water, mountains, colors, and clouds. I'm trying to track down some info on the weather when you took the photo. You're right that high pressure usually means few clouds, so I don't know (yet) why you had so many for this sunset. Stay tuned!

Hi, David.
Thanks for the great image. Do you have a time and date?
Bruce
Bruce,
I am glad to help. Hope these help. All nights were relatively clear and had temperatures in the mid 70's.
Hello Bruce!
If it's not to late here are a couple of sunsets taken on the other side of the Atlantic, roughly at the same latitude as Washington DC, 38º42'25"N, 9º24'30"W, Monte Estoril, Portugal.

This were taken from my terrace at the time, and I have a few more photos of sunsets with cloud formations.
You can see some of them here:

The weather in this part of the world is mostly influenced by the Bermuda High, as you call it.
I guess the interest of these photographs is mainly in the fact that they were taken all on the same spot on different days and seasons.
Sincerely
Bernardo
Bernardo,
thanks very much for posting the images. You mention that your weather is mostly influenced by the Bermuda High. (Funny, I just ran into someone from Bermuda at a party last weekend, and I asked him if he was familiar with the Bermuda High.) Anyway, my question is: how is your weather influenced by the Bermuda High? Feel free to answer privately with as much or as little detail as you wish!
Thanks, Bruce
