OK, the background is cluttered the bird is facing directly to the camera so there is no depth to it, etc, etc.

I still chuckle every time I see it.

Well the title definitely got my attention and the pose is very revealing. Nice one.

Yes, if the head had been slightly turned to one side it would be perfect; but still quite acceptable like this.

Doesn't it reminds you of a guy (it has to be!) with his bathrobe on and "flashing" at passerbys? Evokes a lot of funny thoughts or my imaginative mind is too fertile with this shot. I can make up a lot of stories about this pose... Thanks for the laugh Brian...

    Re: The flasher

This is actually fairly common behavior for various birds. I've even seen Bald Eagles doing it. The oddity in this one is that the heron observed me, didn't see me as a threat but was curious enough to turn toward me to see what I was up to. This is shown by the shadows.

Normally this position is assume with the bird pointed directly toward the sun. They use it to warm up in the morning.

Here is a YCNH in the same position.

It is the worshipping the sun pose in yoga, Brian. Some people do it naked. Anyway the birdies naturally do it without people's intervention so they may feel something more than we do. Or was it the other way around -- the birdies imitate people?

    Re: The flasher

Well, for the pair of young GBH, my first thought was that the bored looking one on the left was saying,

HENRY, will you stop that stupid stuff? Nobody is interested.

The YCNH really does look like it's doing yoga.

I am glad you have a good sense of humour. I cannot help but look at all them again. They are all cuties.
