    Flowers / Formula for Colour Backgrounds in PS CC

    I actually got the idea from post #11 of Frank's thread Picotee , decided to give it a go and here is the result. Thank you Frank

    Let me explain how I did it for the members who also would like to try ;

    1- Open your image in PS,

    2- Create a new fill layer and choose a colour for the background (Layer>New Fill Layer>Solid Colour) ,

    3- Duplicate your image layer and drag it on top of the fill layer,

    4-On dragged layer, select the flower or whatever the subject is with a selection tool and add a mask.

    You can always go back to the fill layer and change the colour of the background to your taste

    Nicely done Binnur! It really enhances the bouquet's ambiance.

    I'm betting that you could also use the colour picker tool to select a colour from your lovely flowers to use as a complementary background as well!

    Now that you've got me thinking about it, I'm going to try that with the Amaryllis Siren that is almost ready to be photographed! Thank you for the idea!! Much appreciated!

    Thank you very much everybody I'm sorry about the spelling mistake in the title I thought I wrote ' Flowers'.

    Frank, I don't know about the colour picket tool yet, I would be really happy to see how it works on your Amaryllis Siren

    The Colour Picker (Picket? see, I make typos as well!) Tool allows you to choose any colour you want for things like brushes. What I should have said was to use the Eyedropper Tool to pick the colour that is used in the Colour Picker. It works by allowing you to sample anything in your image and set the Colour Picker to the colour of the item you sampled.

    Hi Frank , later I realised it was a spelling mistake and I made an edit by using the eyedropper tool I hope this is what you meant. First I chose a colour from my image by using the eyedropper tool, then selected the background area and brushed it with a soft brush. Here is the result.

    Whatever colour you choose can be very much a personal taste choice but there is no question that it will complement the image using this approach. For me, the latest version works better!
