It is a bit close, but the problem is you directed our attention towards the mast, if you hadn't said anything chances are we might not have noticed.
No! That is a pretty postcard.
Thanks John and Andre,
I guess I really answered my own question by doubting whether it was ok or not. Good to hear some other opinions.
It is an excellent image though the long mast not being in perfect symmetry does tend to distract me. Also your image seems a good candidate for some vibrancy.
Lovely image, you are being picky . I like the soft colours and calm mood of early morning
Works better for me.
Hi Greg, I think your 2nd edit does improve, giving the mast more room works for me
Thanks everyone for your input. I'm a lot happier with it now.
Cheers
Although I liked the first one very much ,the image improved with your edit Greg. Sometimes it is better to see the edit to make a more precise comment. The image seems balanced and nice , because you cropped some space from the bottom while adding some space to the top
Hi Greg, what I have found with sailboats is that you either need to include the entire mast with some breathing room, as you have done in your second edit, OR, if the subject is the sailboat, crop in to concentrate on the boat and activity on the deck and crop of the mast letting the viewer supply the missing detail from their imagination. One works best with a scape, as you have here, and the other with the close-up details of the boat. Hope this helps!
I do think your second edit is better. However, it looks as if the pp has introduced quite a lot of artifacts in the boats' rigging. Can you see what I mean?
Dave
Second one for me Greg (wrt the mast) although there was nothing wrong with the more subtle hues of the first.
Correction, Greg, I think it was my screen throwing up artefacts. Apologies for a red herring. However, it looks as if the pp has introduced quite a lot of artifacts in the boats' rigging. Can you see what I mean?
