And a hand held shot as well. We have the rare good fortune to live where there is still good Kingfisher habitat.

Kingfishers are diving / stabbing hunters.

    Hi Brian,

Nice capture. Kingfishers so tame that the sit in the palm of ones hand? They are super shy here.

This particular pair have always been curious about us. Both the male and female have sat and watched us as we puttered in our yard. but in this case he was recovering from flying into our window. After 10 or 15 minutes he flew away.

From Vancouver or Seattle fly to Cebu and then to Dumaguete (avoiding Manila). Off season return flights are not too expensive. 3 weeks or less no visa required. Stay with us. There is diving, caving, and the whole tourist thing on this Island.

Eva we have half a dozen or so species that regularly visit our yard and even more that pass through. From Sun Birds To Falcons and soaring Kites. As the habitat is constantly being destroyed how much longer they survive is any ones guess.

    Hi Brian,

Thank you for your warm hospitality. Unfortunately traveling anywhere in the near future is not in the cards for me. However, I've always longed to visit the Philippines so perhaps one day.
