    Lake Wakatipu

I've been having a bit of a clear out of my image storage mainly to save some space. Whilst in clean up mode I was transported back to New Zealand (I wish) well to my image folders containing images from there. I decided to process this one.
As always your thoughts and critique would be most welcome.

Hi Peter I like the image. IMO it looks a bit oversharpened. I would also crop it from bottom to eliminate the little rock on the bottom right corner and some of the pebbles.

Very nice Peter. I recognise that mountain ! I think the composition works well - the foreground rocks and the clouds add a good deal of interest and the light is nice too. This lake has so many photographic opportunities, you could spend days on end exploring them.

Thanks Binnur, a second pair of eyes are always appreciated. My editing PC is tied up at the moment but I shall give your suggestions a try when I can.
I did look at the crop you suggest when I was editing the image earlier today, I must sort out a useable sharpening process that I can rely on, thanks again.

My thoughts exactly. But cropping a little from the bottom (don't overdo it) will mean a different size ratio or possibly losing the same amount from the left side. If necessary, you could probably lose a fraction from the top to fit into a new size.

And I wonder about selectively editing a little more brightness into the foreground? But leave the sky alone.

Sorry Peter...I agree with Binnur and Geoff's assessment -- oversharpened. But overall, the scenery looks good. Need some work.

Thanks for all of the helpful comments everyone, no need to be sorry Izzie, it wasn't one of my best efforts at processing.
I have now revisited a second raw file from the bracketed sequence and started again with the processing. The crop is 16-9 which allowed me to keep the width and just lose a smidgen of the bottom. What do you think of this version.

    Lake Wakatipu

If I'm really honest I do like the scene but... the wet weather and the passing storm didn't do me any favours.

Hi Peter Sharpening looks better in #2. IMO the composition looks a bit squeezed because some of the sky is missing in #2. Also the colours are more powerful in #1.

Thank you Kaye and Binnur, I appreciate you taking time to comment.

Binnur you're correct wrt to the colours in the first but they were added in by my poor PP skill and probably eyesight.
I think (from memory) that the colours on the far side of the lake are as near to how I saw them but the near shore is brighter, again caused by my second attempt at processing .
I think I prefer the second edit especially if I change the crop as you suggest to return the removed sky. Thanks again for helping me with this 👍

    Hey Peter,

The composition is a hit. There is nothing I would suggest to crop out.
The rendition… this is where I got a discomfort: your scene shares the
same colour palette as gas on a water surface… not very natural.

Mother Nature does not need make-up!

OK Izzie and Kodiak, thanks for taking the time to look and comment on the image, I do appreciate others thoughts on any images I post on this forum.
Izzie thanks for staying with me on this journey and stay honest it's good for the soul

This is my last attempt at processing the image, but...I not convinced that the image was really worth the effort also I'm not convinced that given my PP skills that I am able to do this image justice. Should anyone feel the need to have a go at processing one of these drop me a PM and I will make the Raw file available.
