I'm always of two or three minds about waterfalls as to whether they should be sharp, silky, or somewhere in between. I think the 2nd is a really good example of the silky exposure. I like the 1st as I can imagine the person holding out a cup to catch some water.

I don't often go for the short exposure rendition of water I must admit.

    Ystradfellte

This is about the only example I have and I don't think it would work the same with silky water in this case.

Hi Wayland Gorgeous images. Thanks for sharing. I love the sense of scale in #3. But I have to tell you that I love all images on your website.

I love the scale on that last one Wayland, not that the other two are worse.

    That was in Iceland Dave.

The scale of everything over there was just something else.

An excellent set. I'm a fan of the long shutter in most cases. There are times when otherwise works and your third shot is an excellent example. Nicely done.

The second one is my favourite, amazing.

These waterfalls are only 7 miles from my home and I've never been there!

What a great set with the figures in one and three giving a insight in to the scale of the falls. Well done Gary.

    Peter, you should get there.

The paths are quite steep so be prepared, but the whole valley is a beautiful walk.

Wayland...I subscribed to this thread (and others) yesterday but couldn't respond for lack of time...I love #1 and #3 as I am not a real fan of silky water. There are some good ones to my eyes but very rare. #1 is very interesting in that the guy in the shot gives it a nice human element added to the shot including the look of how high the water is coming from. The 3rd shot is the same and the image itself reminds me of a building I saw once in Asia where the water flowing from a huge picture window has some sort of smooth/rough water kissing the glass but on smaller scale. Inside and out have a different view too. The woman standing at one side is also interesting to see there -- I wonder what she was thinking at the time....??? As usual, excellent shots all...

I could go and ask her if you like, she's sitting 10 feet from me at the moment.

The guy in the first shot was hoping that Andy would just hit the shutter button and not decide to change the composition he'd set up.
