Thousands of umbrellas and not a taxi in sight. Isn't that always the case? I guess it just shows a slice of life Matt.

Interesting and colourful image...At least crop a bit of the left side with the half person on it and you will also end up cropping the walking guy at the top left. Then at the right side, crop the black fence.

Nice gritty look, looks like you were trying to capture the raindrops?

    Thanks guys.

Yes John, well I tried... I'd read about using a high shutter speed to capture rain... it didn't come out quite as I liked though.

May be you didn't capture the raindrops ,but you captured the feeling very well Matt. I will keep in mind trying high shutter speed while shooting in rain

    Hi Matt,

You need a shutter speed of about 1/60sec, but then you'll have some out of focus travelers. Perhaps if you have the people walking towards you it might work.

Do you mean , a low shutter speed is needed John ? Then , wouldn't the sky be blurred because of the unclear rain drops ?

    Hi Binnur,

More chance of the people being blurred, the rain would appear as streaks. The rain wouldn't appear very clearly against a pale sky. Anything faster (shutter speed) would not capture the raindrops very well.

I don't think I have ever seen so many umbrellas in one place before. The dark colours really bring out the atmosphere of the wet weather

If you want to catch the rain also you could try a flash. It's a trick that's used for snow.
    Nice picture.
