I like version 3 of the original composition best. I often find that the critique of over sharpness is remedied by reducing the contrast. I don't add much sharpening to my raw images and yet I'm also critiqued with over sharpness. Another cause of the appearance of over sharpness is due to the amount of Clarity used in PP. I'm finding I use Clarity very little now in my landscapes. Just my $0.02 or is that 2p or 2d?

I have also found that keeping clarity at zero or very minor is preferential where foliage is concerned Steve.

Hi Peter I haven't read all of the comments yet , because I want to answer to your question first.

Comparing #1,#2 and #3 to each other I think I prefer #2 best because wet parts are too bright in #1 and #3 and they also seem too sharp to me .

Comparing #1 and #3 to each other regarding sharpness, IMO #1 looks better.

    Thanks again.

Ooh, yes Peter! Flickr does that oversharpening. I know it because same thing happened to one of Rob Castro's images in the past and he gave up uploading through Flickr to CinC for this reason and started uploading from his computer by using tinypic.

BTW #4 and #5 are beautiful compositions , again I find them oversharpened.

I now wondering what if any impact my use of Flickr to host and link to for these images is having on the images. I just wonder if that hosting site is adding some sharpening. Like you I will be interested in comments from others here both on the images and any thoughts they have wrt using flickr. Thanks again Grahame
