Re: A couple of spiders
The second one, John, is a Linyphiidae; and at this time of the year I would guess Linyphia triangularis, but there are a few alternatives.
They construct a very fine horizontal web and usually sit underneath it. If you look closely at the web design it will be a wonder of engineering with many carefully placed vertical hanging supports. Quite different from the more 'traditional' web constructed by the Araneus diadematus (Garden Spider) in the first photo.

Re: A couple of spiders
Wow John...I like #2 image very much...I see it differently like as it the web is water and the little guy (?) is underneath it with the top forming like splashes...very nice..

Re: A couple of spiders
Thanks Izzie. The garden spider is a lot better than one I took a couple of years ago so I am pleased with that one too.
As the digital zoom was on these are not far off 100% resolution crops. On the other hand this has probably given me a lot of depth of field. I'm not at all sure how this has happened. The info displayed in the viewfinder has changed. I sometime suspect Oly have software gremlins. Do this, do that etc and something else changes.
