Easy Screen Grab

I use the Windows 7 Snipping Tool which allows me to "snip" any portion of the screen and to copy it as a jpeg image...



It is very easy and the snipping tool comes as part (sometimes hidden) of Windows 7...

BTW: This is just an example with NIK control points placed on the image randomly to illustrate the snipping tool...

I use Jing -- it also capture video. I did not know about the snipping tool of windows...

Just hit print screen and past the image into editing software

I found that hitting print screen gave me a rather low res image, where snipping gave me a full screen res jpeg straight off the bat.

print screen gives you the entire window, while alt-print-screen gives you the active window. Unless that is what you want in your screen shot, the snipping tool will give you better results.

The Snipping Tool allows me to either capture the entire screen (as does the print screen command)



or to crop out a specific portion of the image I desire...



I can then either save it as a JPEG or directly paste it into the body of my email, bypassing the need to paste it into my editing program first...

I can also bypass my editing software (I use Photoshop CS6) and just save my image directly into my image library or onto a flash drive or some other memory device.

I use Corel Draw's Corel Capture - allows selective area or whole screen, can directly place into graphics programme and has the big advantage that you can specify the area of capture and also exclude the cursor from the image capture.

I've always known about the snipping tool and have used it , but for entirely irrational reasons I prefer to use a free tool PicPick
