Heavy price drops
on D610 and D7100
That usually means end of life
faster and faster these days
Are Nikon cutting their own throat by replacing cameras too fast

I think the camera manufacturers have no choice. They need to upgrade substantially to cope with the new generation of high capacity very high speed (400 mbs) SD cards, and they need to embrace 4K video. If they don't, then even established brands like Nikon and Canon will be left behind.

I think it has to do with reporting for the next quarter. Just some thoughts, the D610 may not be selling as well as the bean counter thought so shelves at warehouse are still quite full, as for D7100 great camera however Nikon is not pushing DX format, they are still on FF, so lots of D7100 on shelf, how better to empty shelves and get items off of book drop price before you have to report next quarter that will make books look good.
