Small birds - Pantanal - Thread two

Hi. I am sharing some small and mid size birds this time, from my recent trip to Pantanal. Many of these were hard to get, as I shot mostly from inside a boat. Jaguars are all around, hidden in the jungle, so getting out of the boat is not always a good idea! There are certain spots that are safe to step the land, but there is always a risk. I hope these images can convey a bit of Pantanal's bird variety.

C&C welcomed, as always. Thanks for viewing. Cheers,

    Hi Otavio,

All lovely as your images always are. The skimmers are my favourites for the artistic beauty. It is truly special to be able to view images of tropical birds.

    Jaguars all around... Lucky you!

    Hi Otivo,
I think you've done fine to get that many nice bird shots. Some of the birds look tropical, some look more normal to me. Your photos show a good variety.

Hi Otavio...you've just upped your level another notch! These are all excellent shots I can barely choose a favourite. I am surprised that you also have a cardinal in Brazil, though another version from the Missouri ones around here. #9 Kingfisher looks like she woke up too early and hasn't a chance to brush her hair or she is just having a bad hair day? How cute is that?!!! Makes me smile...All excellent shots...looking forward to see some more...

    aahhhhrrrrr....Jaguars? Be careful out there...

Hi Otávio: What an incredible trip you are on. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful series. I think I am partial to the Kingfisher in Number 9. How did you manage to expose the bird so well against that bright sky? Any post processing tips on that one?

These are all great, as we've come to expect from you, Otávio! One in particular has me curious is #6, the Toucan. I can't figure out if its tongue looks like a feather or is that a branch behind the head? I have never seen a tongue that looked like that so I wasn't sure.

Quite a variety of birds, Otavio. And good idea staying in the boat. Nice job.

Hi, Nick. Many birds migrate to Pantanal, to breed. That is why many of them are familiar to you.

    Thanks for viewing.

Hello, Binnur. We never know exactly what is next! I am thinking about going to fish some Giant Peacock basses in Amazon forest next year, with my dad. If that comes to happen, my camera backpack will be on my shoulders, that's for sure!

    Thanks for passing by!

Thanks, Izzie. Regarding the Jaguars, I am always careful about them. You cant imagine how easy they kill a 3 meters long (10 feet) cayman!

Even so, I would love to see one so I could take some pictures (from the boat, of course). Cheers,
