    From an Evening Walk

The darkness falls so early this time of year but it's still fun to walk around with a camera!

The first one is a typical night city scene...The second one could be better if the cropping doesn't include the rubbish bin. I love the expression on their faces. Wonder what was sent to them in that iphone...each of these shots have stories to tell. Good one!

Nice night photos May be it would be better to reduce the highlights in all lamps in #2.

    Re: From an Evening Walk

I really like #2 but, it seems to me that the photo is really of this young couple and their reaction to the text message (?) on her cell phone. I tried a closer crop, eliminating the trash receptacle and light pole. I also cropped the bottom under her purse to eliminate a crop at the joints. I reduced the intensity of the background lights and increased the structure and slightly lightened the faces...

I think I disagree about the rubbish bin. It seems like it balances out the photo. And I also think if you remove the bin then the edge of the frame starts crowding the subjects. But that's just my opinion. And yes, either way its a nice shot.

But I just don't understand how you Brits that can't use proper English! Saying "rubbish bin" when it's really a garbage can.

Just for the record, I am not a Brit...I'm an Australian and proud of it.

I like the backlighting in both photos. It really makes the subjects stand out away from the BG.

The subjects in #2 are not as sharp as #1. It seems that the focus is the trashcan (rubbish bin, garbage can). I think that is why it disturbs the eye a bit despite the fact that, to me, it does balance as it is a street scene.

I like your street scenes. Nice work.

What lens are you using? Mind sharing your settings?
