    Henley Bridge

I had an assignment to shoot the Henley Bridge here in Knoxville for a commercial client. After I delivered the images I had some fun.

I used the new plugin from Topaz, called Impression, to make a copy of this image as a pencil sketch. I then opened it and the original in Photoshop, added a layer mask, got a soft brush and turned the flow down to about 15 and just started painting.

    Henley Bridge

    Thanks for viewing!

I guess you know your clients and have an idea what their tastes are, but would you ever show this image to a client? Why or why not?

By the way, I like it, has an illustration look to it.

John - it depends. I had pretty specific requirements for the shoot, and this shot wasn't really there, so no I wouldn't just suggest it. If I thought it told the story they were trying to tell, of course I would show it to them. I did show them the image, and they liked it, but it didn't fit what they were looking for.

This one was just for me. I just got Impression a couple of weeks ago, and I'm trying to see what it will do. Just playing around

Here's the shot they went with:

    Cliff,

I'm glad you showed it to the client and received positive feeback, to me showing multiple formats helps market your potential; of course it can also be risky as some clients may feel you are simply promoting your portfolio.

John - once again, it depends. I know this client pretty well so showing them the image really wasn't a risk. If I didn't know the client I'd be a bit more leery of just showing them a shot cold until I got a better feel for their likes and dislikes. A variation on their requirements, maybe, but something "out of the blue," probably not.

Very impressive Clive...I was thinking of getting Impression a few days ago and now here you are showing me (us) this...I like illustration effect without having to draw it myself.
