    Hi Jack,
I like the subject very much -- I have many pictures of chains that I am not happy with for various reasons -- and I think your title is clever - steel reinforcing the spider webs. But for me the background detracts from the image. I know we have to work with what we have, and I don't really know what to suggest with this one, but it just seems to busy. Maybe a strong dose of blurring, or darkening more... ? Were you up close and personal with this one?

Hi Jack, great image I love the tones and shapes in the chain . IMO the BG with small whites distracts, can you do something about it ?

Hi Jack The BG seems better in your edit but the chain was effected by your edit too. I like the contrasty look of chain in the original.

Binnur, while I was editing the second version and comparing to the first, it appeared to me that #1 was maybe over sharpened, but then, that's what happens when you start to over think things. Let me know what you think of this third (and hopefully final) edit.

Lovely photo Jack. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds beauty in things like this......

Hi Jack IMO the BG is still distracting in #3. That's why if I had to choose I would prefer #2 although it is less contrasty.

The background in the 2nd is much better, Jack. Are you able to make selective adjustments with your software? ie just work on the chain now to bring back the texture?

Thanks Kaye. One man's stale bread is another man's bread crumbs (or something to that effect )

Greg, in the second image I had blurrificated the background only, in the second edit I sharpened the entire image, which is what changed the level of blurrification in the BG. I will go back in and de-muckup the image.

p.s. to those attack drones that will want to point out some of my words are nonsensical, ah...duh!

Binnur, that pesky BG. I do agree with you and call do over.
