I like the image John I just wonder if it would look better to brighten the shadowy branches and the shadow of the tree just a little bit but not too much.
Like the saturations and richness of first one better, and it illustrates better what I find interesting about an image like this: To me, one senses it is indeed made in winter (not fall) and I'm not sure why. I think it has to do with the combination of a sense that this is from the more middle hours of the daytime (brightness of sky?) and at the same time with the long shadows of a low angle winter sun. It just looks like a snowless winter - near solstice - day, and I enjoy it for that look.
I wonder about reducing the amount of sky, maybe a 4 x 5 ratio to give more impact to the scene?
Pity about that red vehicle; but not much you could have done about it. Would a crop from top and left be worth considering?
I like the edit better but I like the saturation of the first so I am really torn here which one to choose. Maybe as Geoff suggested a little crop at the top so the concentration of the shot will gear towards the trees? I am not saying anything new, sorry...
Edit looks better John
