how do you take a picture of wind?

This part of the country, upper midwest of Wyoming, is known for its windy days. The other day we had 40+mph winds with blowing and drifting snow and temps in the 20's (f), not the best of conditions for working outside. I tried several angles to show how fierce the it was blowing, none of them really worked. So any ideas on how to take these kinds of photo's would be welcome. This picture gives some idea of the conditions that day. There were several times when the visability went to near zero and the wind was shacking my truck something awful. Now I'm a little over 200lbs and when a gust hits you and almost knocks you over, thats windy.

You probably need to find something familiar that is being bent/distorted by the wind so viewers get the feeling.

This is one I took at a wind farm and in this example the trees really give a feeling of strong winds. Hope it helps.

I like your shot...it shows all conditions of having strong wind blowing...the mood is really great there. Feels cold. and knowing where you are situated, I wouldn't be in your shoes in a million years at this time of the year....Honest!

I'd call it a success. Look plenty windy to me.

Next time, though, make a delay shot with you in the scene wearing one of those Wyoming cowboy dusters, coat tails blowing in the wind.

Longer exposures, but then, there is camera or tripod shake and a potential disaster in the making if the stuff blows over.

Interesting puzzle. Like the idea of doing a selfie, but then, if it were me, i would probably be on the ground looking up at that point.
