Nicely captured, must be quite a sight when the sun is setting.
Jack I like this one a lot but I wonder if a crop that includes more (or none) of the upper left corner would be more effective?
I like the angle that you used for your composition. And I agree with the prior comment that the size/patterns at upper left disturb the overall symmetry. Overall nicely done.
Thanks John, I think you'd have to be across the Hudson in Jersey to appreciate the sun setting on it.
I like your revision better but do you?
Nice shot, Jack.
On top of the shapes, I like the way the reflective glass interacts with the window frames. That adds some intersting textures to the whole image and I think adds to the overall abstraction.
I was thinking along the same lines as the others considering the crop; I would probably be even more agressive if it were my image and would crop everything above where the top left corner of the building starts to curve.
Good subject, Jack and nice composition. I also was distracted by the upper left corner, but rather than crop it out, I would replace it by cloning the adjacent windows.
Looks like the architect overdosed at Starbucks:roll eyes:
But he left you with a nice photo op and it's a good composition. I like it.
Shane, to my mind the crop doesn't take anything away from the image and to be honest I think the revision is an improvement.
Thanks Manfred. For this particular image I don't know that cropping more from the top would work (any better). On the other hand I always have the option to re-shoot the building so next time I'm in the area I'll look for another angle.
Thanks Greg. Not sure about cloning because then I would be adding something to a building that doesn't exist. Like I told Shane I think the second version works well.
Thanks Graham. I image the construction was a massive headache. From what I read of the building it was months behind schedule and over $50 million (US) over budget. But it is an impressive building (one of many in NYC for that matter.)
Very interesting subject and nicely shot.
Thank you Barbara.
Love the image Jack, especially the edit. I like the reflections upon reflections on the whole image itself...Nice find and nicely done...
cool shot cool edit
