My goodness what a pair! That first shot with the two of them is excellent. I've always favored mostly grey/roan coloring with liver patches. But Grace is mostly liver and no stripe between the eyes.

When I was a lad we had both GSPs and English Pointers(are they really English?). In the southern US where we hunted the English would beat their tails to bloody pulp on the briars. I was always told that was the reason for the docking, to avoid that. Though given the propensity for German breeds to have docked tails I suspect it was simply a breeders' preference that became standard. But it is quite practical both in the field and around the house.

I vote for the first scene at the beach. You got the dimensional aspect perfect as the picture looks very much 3-d, at least on my computer monitor.

The lighting is really beautiful. I agree with the comment of cropping a bit off the foreground but just a bit. Otherwise I think it is perfect!

They are such beautiful dogs, Andrew...pretty much like Dan's Grace.

For me, gradually fading into the background, as you have here, gives depth while starting off out of focus just adds distraction. Unless it is one of those exceptions where you finish sharply focused.

I don't think I would have cropped as Richard did, but for some reason I see an increased sharpness in his example. ...and I like it! Something in the catch lights on the rocks that is really nice in his example.

    Other than that, beautiful capture.

I wouldn't change a thing. I just wish that had I been there I could have got close.
