Photo of my long-awaited Henri Cartier-Bresson book

I pre-ordered this book in July 2014 along with others discussing it in another thread and received it yesterday. The Decisive Moment is an enormously important book in the history of photo books. It was published only once in 1952 and those editions go for about USD $500. This reprint of the facsimile sells for less than USD$100. The front and rear covers were designed by Matisse.

Cartier-Bresson has always been one of my favorite photographers, not just because of the quality of his photography but also because of his important role in the history of photography. He is one of the founding members of Magnum Photos established five years before this book was first published and he is often considered the father of photojournalism. I own signed photos by Cartier-Bresson including the boy proudly carrying two wine bottles, the bicyclist riding in the street at the base of a set of stairs and a less famous image of a ballet scene.

You can imagine how excited I am to have received this book. Now that I've photographed it partially removed from its slipcase, I'll actually fully remove it for the first time.

By the way, I don't by any stretch of the imagination consider this one of my better makeshift studio shots. Instead, I just wanted to share a reasonably decent photo of an historically important photo book that I am now thrilled to own.

Thanks, Donald! I have already enjoyed it immensely and look forward to more detailed reviews.

Anyone interested in my initial impressions of the book and the accompanying booklet can find them here.
