    Morning Mist

Took this one at the weekend, the day turned into a nice sunny one - but it started very moody

    C & C welcome as always

Nice, would have liked to have seen more of foreground material perhaps near the roots.

    Nice. Almost a sepia effect.

    Re: Morning Mist

Thanks John, they are reeds about 6 ft tall so it was a bit of a play around to get the layers with the tree tops and I decided to forego the stalks in favour of a bit of sky above

Thanks John, I do like the misty morning creating a narrow palette of colours to create a monotone (ish) picture - saves worrying about a strong colour in the wrong place

    Hi Mark,

Lovely set. I especially adore the composition, tones and colours of these. I'm still learning about landscapes but for some reason I would be inclined to crop the sky out of the 1st image - simply because when I move the image around I love the contrast of the sharpness of the foreground grass against the trees in shadow... I see it is the opposite view of #2.

I love the second image. The bird just makes the shot! My son and I call that spooky ooky morning stuff. Yes we are a bit crazy but hey life is short!

A very beautiful scene. I would be proud of it if I had taken this photo! I like #1 as is. The crow on the tree top is a bonus.

Thank you Christina, it was a 'decisions, decisions' thing as to the parts to leave in and those to cut - but as noted by Nick the crow swung the vote
Thank you, Barbara, we are pretty much the same - it makes the world a great place to be in if you can look at it slightly askance
Thank you Izzie, much appreciated especially from you.
Nick, yep - there were a flock of them when I first sized up the picture, then they upped and left leaving that one on its own, I sort of wondered what it did to offend the rest but pleased it stayed as it puts the last bit of the picture together for me

Like pic #2 better framed/composition.In pic #1 a little too much white mist/ sky, as suggested more of the foreground would be nice. Well done and thanks.

    Re: Morning Mist

Thanks Raymond, appreciated. Unfortunately there is no more foreground in the frame to show - but I will be back at the location a few more times adn given the weather we have I think I may get another go at it and may well try that to compare the two ( ish).

I especially love the second shot... Well done! I've been discouraged with my results when shooting in foggy weather, but you've just inspired me to keep trying!

    Two good images Mark.

No 1 I feel a bit of the sky could be lost. That foreground grass makes for a great subject.

    Re: Morning Mist

Thanks Kirsty, if it helps the metering was centre weighed with the bird in th ecentre of the frame, and white balance was set to cloudy
Cheers Grahame, trying to not shove the crow to the very top of the frame, but looking at it again its certainly another shot to get when I get the same (ish) conditions again there. I have been looking at this location a few times trying to get the reeds into a shot I like, there is a lot of potential there but trying to 'see' the shot I want and get it is difficult as you are on a board walk throught the reedbed and they grow in swampy conditions !

Nice pictures, Mark. I like the way the trees in the background appear to be still, but the reeds in the foreground are blowing in the breeze.
