Re: Starry Night
I find this striking... very engaging. Terrific job on exposure too. The warm sky is unreal and dramatic, separates this from the ordinary, and I'd like to hear your thinking on presenting it as such.

Re: Starry Night
Hope you don't mind but I reprocessed with Noel Carboni Astro tools to get this. If you like I will remove. There seems to be a shadow of the Milky way visible.

Re: Starry Night
I really like star photos with nice landscape below. This snowy night gave you a great spot for the opportunity. I have had the red sky show up in star photos too, though I usually change the white balance to make it cooler, but it's up to you.

Re: Starry Night
To be honest, I was prepared for the question about the “red” skies.
Truth is the sky at night is neither reddish nor blue. As a matter of fact it has no color at all.
Depending on the conditions it may appear red, purple, green or some other color. It can also appear blue, especially during full moon.
To make my point I’ll cite the following sources:
1. Outdoor Photographer Magazine – September 2014, p.52
2. Outdoor Photographer Magazine – December 2014, p.62

Re: Starry Night
You’re right, Haseeb. It is a portion of the Milky Way indeed.

Amazing shot!
I like the red sky, I also like Haseeb's edit to... Both make great images in my opinion.

Re: Starry Night
Thanks Izzie, Jordan and Matt. Jordan, that is an amazing image and you should indulge some more. Not sure if you tried to take multiple images and then stacked them using Deep Sky Stacker but its worth a try to get amazing details in.
