what would be the result of the moving the horizon created by the ships upper superstructure to the top third line and increasing the water at the bottom. (without losing the V formation of geese )

Worth a shot, you are most welcome to crop as you please. I had a bit extra as this has already been cropped, so I see the benefit of your suggestion.

Lovely shots and beautiful skies, I do like Brian's crop (but would of retained the fire) and maybe the 2nd one could do with a crop? The bird near the top is a bit of a distraction.

    Re: Fire

Really nicely handled colors. I prefer the first one for the lovely sky and because the cruise ship might be anywhere. The second one has a decidedly industrial look to it. Though the gulls and pilings are kind of neat. Nice job working a location.

Nice set of Images, I like both but was more drawn to the second until I saw the cropped version. I really like the little added detail of the gulls in the second image but I like the simplicity and the sky in the first, nice work.

    Re: Fire

The main problem with that first image is the out of focus bit of tree in the top left corner. There are several options of crop and/or clone from the top and left side to improve the scene.

    Re: Fire

First one for me John essentially as is - maybe crop a little from top and right to place the bulk of the ship squarely on the RH/lower thirds but....... The second is nice but the sun is a bit hot (no pun intended). Two good images nicely handled from the point of view of rendering that gorgeous colour and sky. What ship was it; do you know?

I cannot complain, John...when I first saw #1 I really thought you had captured fire at its utmost. Very beautiful colours. Love it so much...I only got to understand #1 because of #2 shot...then I have to look at #1 again and looked at the clouds. I think I am a little bit slow today trying my best to catch up with the postings so far, but I cannot help but look a fourth look this time around...exquisite shot!

Matt, thanks for commenting, I thought of doing a tighter crop on the second, but I kind of liked the silhouetted birds, I can see where a crop would be worth a look.

Dan, thanks for commenting, it was an unusually fiery sky, I'm usually in the wrong place when this occurs, luckily I was wandering the docks when this sky developed.

Hi John, thanks for the comments and suggestions. Couldn't get a read on which ship it was.
