    Re: White Balance/Exposure Help

Thanks for your continuing opinions on this Andre, I stand by all that was written as being a most correct and factual response to what was written in Post #20.

    1. > Addressing the minor point about the third stop (F/22 @ 1/250 @ ISO200) which you raised:

The F/16 Rule, (which is set for EV =15 and was referenced): for EV =15 the typical exposure would be F/16 @ 1/200 @ ISO200, so for EV = 17 the typical exposure would be two stops closed down (as was written),
    i.e. F/22 @ 1/200s @ ISO100.

    2. > Also it was you who suggested to bump the ISO, here is the full text of Post #20, in it you give an example and describe how you used Flash and bumped the ISO and then you suggest to the OP to do the “same thing” outside in the snow and that will “make it easier” “understand how to drag the shutter” (my underline and bold for relevance):

In this shot I used flash and bumped the ISO. In Post I added a white vignette.
Look how washed out the skin tone is in the face of my grandchild. There is no detail and no texture at all.
This was an impulsive, happy snap taken and no setup was done. (Crappy BG. I can remove the tile grout in the BG if I wish but since it is a crappy shot I won't bother.)
Doing the same thing outside, on a bright day, especially when you got snow around, makes it easier when you understand how to drag the shutter while using flash. You also need to understand how to use manual WB. (BTW this was shot in JPeg.)
The EXIF of the above shot is in place so you can see how I have set up my camera.
    3. > Also, the initial use of the compound noun "bright day", was in Post #20 and the meaning of it was clearly interpreted by the reader as "not overcast".

But there seems still the habit to add personal comments and slurs and innuendo alluding to incompetence, therefore this now concludes our conversation here.

Although I don't ever mind explaining the words which have been written (example as per above) - I am totally not interested in responding to a continuum of negative personal comments - in any forum conversation and especially based on the history here of that happening.

I would like to apologize to the members, especially to the people that posted on this thread, that we did not prevent it from deteriorating sooner.

At this point, I would like to thank everyone that contributed, but we will be closing off this thread for further postings. We had considered removing certain postings, but some of the very useful information would have been lost and the flow would have been disrupted.
