    Stockghyll Force

Just had a few very wet days in Ambleside in the Lakes. One thing about wet weather though is that the waterfalls are in full flow. Dry enough one morning for a short walk around Stockghyll Force. These are literally the only two images that I made during the whole break but we enjoyed ourselves never the less.

Both good shots John but the first is the stand-out for me. It has a strong composition and you've done well with the light considering the weather.

Thanks for the comments all. We love the Lake District Mark and we are lucky to have it on our doorstep - wet or dry.

I love #1 best too because of the fact that it begs for some questions to be answered. e.g., what is on the top of this shot, is it a waking bridge? Have you been there? This looks more of a complete picture than the second one. Just my opinion...

Has to be number 1 by a long shot.

Thanks all for the additional comments. My preference is also for no.1. Yes Izzie, it was a circular walk up one side of the falls, across the bridge and back down the other side.

Number 1 for me, its got great little details from the rocks to the log and all the way up to that bridge.

#1 for me, too. The colors are more vibrant and the shot draws your eye up to the bridge. It looks like a wonderful place for photography.

I agree with everyone else, John, the first is the better composition, but I find the vignette a little too heavy for my taste.

They are both lovely but #1 makes me want to find a place to sit where I can see and hear the water rushing.

Thanks all for the continued comments. Donna/Barbara, I will be going again but next time it will be in the fall. I suspect that the colours will be spectacular. Dave, I think you are right about the vignette. Should have held the image back for a while before posting. You don't tend to see these details immediately after PP.
