Nice effort. Did you eat the rest of the subject?
Good idea John
Peach, John? Very sharp and looks juicy...where is the rest of it?
Nice image.
The top left edge and the bottom edge are out of focus, which is not surprising with this kind of subject. It would be a great subject for experimenting with stacking, if you haven't done it. Well, another slice like it anyway. This one is probably no longer so pristine.
A couple other alternatives to try:
- Use a relatively smaller light source positioned to produce stronger side lighting that rakes over the subject to render more display of the fruit's texture
- Slice the fruit so thin that it is translucent and light it from behind
It's a pretty shot, John. I'd like to understand your settings: I'm thinking you might have used a higher f-stop, but perhaps you wanted a little softness here and there?
Hi Mark,
My shooting location was a room with overhead fluorescent lighting and the sample was placed vertically in a slightly darkened corner. I had reasonable camera stability, the camera was resting flat on a countertop; so settings were chosen to get the best exposure using lowest ISO. I will experiment with a higher f-stop moving forward.
I think I would like a little more room around the subject - you've just nicked the corner off in the top right and that bothers me!
John, I like Mike's idea about a very thin slice lit from behind. Why not trying
