An experiment or two...on cloning textures on flowers...for C&C

I decided to try PP this morning and took two shots of a duff-o-dil and an orange tulips via the advice of Geoff on adding texture to a flower petal. Both of these flowers have some over exposure from the shots...but after PP using Geoff's advice, here are the results...how did I do???

    1 Daffodils..

They look pretty good to me Izzie. Nice and sharp and any texture you've added looks completly natural. I pick the daffys as well because the green background is more pleasing.

The textures look very natural, Izzie. Nice detail in all the blooms. Those daffodils can be tough. Nicely done.

Hi Izzie, both shots look great. But how good your pp is I have no idea. To answer how good your pp is requires the original as well as the modified?

Thank you for your responses --Benjy, Dan, Graham, John and Brian...

Benjy, I shot the tulips that way from the top because I want to experiment on brush on texture on overexposed petals. Geoff F did an example for me on my magnolia flower and it was magnificent so when I was weeding (yes it is Spring here. Finally!!!) I saw that I have two orange ones in the path...and a few more of the daffies nearby...and the two dogs do not go to my plants anymore so they survived so far. My nagging them to stay out of my plants finally sink in this year.

Graham, thank you. You should what is behind those "greens". I haven't even started in that area so I thought blurring the background helps hide those mess. I tried on with the rock background but it just doesn't want to cooperated with me. I am glad my daffies are finally cooperating with my camera. Two days trying and I was about to give up...

Dan, thank you for your comment...I did not expect I can get that shot yesterday after many tries ... and I was bothered by the shadows so I lighten them up a bit and brush in the textures that I lost from the sun's exposure. It works. I am pleased you like them.

Thank you John for your comments. Appreciate it very much.

Brian...I will have to resize the original overexposed shot that I did. I will upload it in the morning...

Thank you all for looking and commenting.. I do appreciate it a lot.

They look darn good to me Izz!

I’m not really seeing any of the tell-tale signs of cloning which include repeating patterns and wonky clone boundaries.

    Nice work.

I like them both. At first I thought I preferred the Daffodils, but, on reflection, I plumped for the Tulip. I like the point of view, and I find that the out-of-focus background soil actually enhances the image as a whole.

I like both Izzie! You are getting good at those flowers and seem to have a variety to work with.

I can't see any signs of being retouched, which means great job retouching it. Lovely photos.

David, and Binnur appreciate your comments...

Terry, this comment coming from you is well received. I am glad you see it that way...I think I can follow simple instructions very well...I should really thank Geoff F too for giving me that tips on the texture brushing.

Thanks John (Rostron) that is my favourite too. Maybe because I did a lot of work on it...this is the original...

An experiment or two...on cloning textures on flowers...for C&C

It doesn't look much work, but when you are working on details, then going in and out of the house to match it with the brush strokes was taxing...to say the least...only because Geoff said "when you know how the structure of flowers go..." this is a good example of it.

Thank you too for looking and commenting. Appreciate it very much...also to Barbara and Dave from Texas...I am glad I was able to convince you this time around...maybe more like I convinced myself that I can do it, but hey! I've done it. Thank you so much for all the encouraging comments.

Barbara, I have been weeding my garden and I am in this area of it...wait till I go outside up front and on the side, I will sure bring my camera with me. Thanks again for commenting.

    Hi Izzie,

Just to say that I also think your flower shots are coming along very nicely. My preference is for the daffodils because I prefer the background and the colours. I also can't see any sign of cloning/texture which is something that I find especially hard to do well (and that I still can't do well), so I'd say you've done a stellar job of it.

Re: An experiment or two...on cloning textures on flowers...for C&C

Thanks Christina for passing by...I think I am beginning to understand post processing better and with CiC here, I will always have my back covered. It is a safe feeling...the daffies were almost 200% enlarged (or lesser) to be able to give it that touch, I will try others that are more overexposed and see if I can replicate what I have here...too many curlies...

Rita, thank you for the kind words. Before this, all my flower post needs serious post processing..this is very new to me...

Brian...thanks for getting back on this post and your very kind comments. It is flattering to hear it from a master of flowers too...

Thank you all for commenting and critique-ing...I do appreciate very much the learnings I got from here...
